Sunday, Monday

Saturday morning we woke at 7:30 to a phone call from Mom; they had entered the Pennsylvania turnpike. I said we'd meet up in a couple of hours, and we dressed, prepared the trailer for traveling, the walked up to the snack bar for breakfast. I had a huge stack of blueberry pancakes, while Maggie enjoyed an omelet.

A Hagerstown resident.

We waddled down to the trailer and headed for our rendezvous with the rest of the group. As we drove onto the turnpike, Maggie called Dad on the cell phones and found them 15 miles behind us. Not bad for dead reckoning. We joined up around lunch time at a service area, and then continued into Ohio. On some of the turnpike service areas they have RV overnight parking with electricity and potable water. We spent the night at the Middle Ridge plaza, and ate supper in the food court.

The next morning I woke up for a bathroom run and noticed how bright it was out. Snow seemed to be hungry, so I gave him his breakfast food. As I got back into bed Maggie asked "Why did you feed the cat?" I replied that it was almost time to get up, so I figured I'd get it out of the way. "It's one o'clock in the morning!" she exclaimed. I looked out the window, and realized that the parking area had bright street lights that illuminated the RV area like it was early morning. Great for security, but not for sleeping if you have light drapes on the windows.

Sunday morning we headed out after breakfast for Indiana, about a 3-4 hour drive. The sky was patchy with clouds when we pulled into Middlebury KOA. Setting up the trailers took about a half hour, including the awnings.

Snow was happy to stop moving!

Two views of the campsite.

We were sitting outside when one of the campground workers came whizzing over in a golf cart to tell us there was a tornado watch. As he sped away we started collapsing the awnings. Maggie and I hadn't had a lot of time to practice closing ours, so it wouldn't close up and I had to tie it with cord for the time being. Within the hour the watch was canceled, but we decided to leave the awnings until tomorrow because it was drizzling off and on. Later in the afternoon we held our first meeting of the Pool Flounders. You’ll have to ask about that one…
