Friday and Saturday
Friday morning we left Indiana driving under clouds and the occasional rain shower. On one of the Ohio Turnpike plazas where we stopped for gas Dad’s van refused to start. After about 15 minutes of finagling we finally were on our way to the Madison, PA KOA. While we were checking in Maggie said that this place looked familiar. Then she realized that we had stopped here years ago when we took the kids on a trip with the pop-up trailer.

The sites were fairly level and we were thinking about a Pool Flounder session when it started to rain with thunder and lightning. Mom served supper in their trailer, and around 7:30 that evening we walked over to the pavilion for an Iced Cream Social. You got two scoops of vanilla, and could load up with about a dozen different toppings. Did I tell you that scales weren’t allowed on this trip? We walked around the campground afterward to see the facilities then retired for the night.
The next morning we said our good-byes before heading for the highway. At the Breezewood exit of the Pennsylvania turnpike Maggie and I headed south while Mom, Dad and Donna continued east. After a couple of bathroom and food breaks we arrived back in Virginia just after lunchtime. We unloaded the trailer, and then drove it over to our parking area. We were just coming in the door when Mom called to say that they had arrived safely.
It was another great vacation, with our thanks to Mom, Dad and Donna for inviting us along. Next year we plan to revisit Vermont with the entire family. Great-grandparents, grandparents, kids, grand kids….and an occasional pet or two for the mix.
